AIP’s Inam Un Nabi Calls for Promotion of Urdu Language as True Tribute to Ghulam Nabi Khayal

Srinagar, October 15: Chief Spokesperson of Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), Inam Un Nabi, today addressed a commemorative gathering on the second anniversary of renowned writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Khayal organised by Wisdom Together at Srinagar.

Expressing deep admiration for the late literary icon, Inam Un Nabi paid rich tributes to Ghulam Nabi Khayal, describing him as a “courageous conscience-keeper” who used his pen for truth, peace and cultural preservation. He said that the biggest tribute to Khayal Sahib would not be in words, but in actions that strengthen our linguistic and cultural identity, particularly through the promotion of Kashmir besides Urdu which remains the official language of Jammu and Kashmir.

Inam Un Nabi thanked Bilal Bashir, Rameez Makhdoomi and Ajaz Ahmad War and their team for organising the meaningful event that brought together writers, journalists, and admirers of Khayal Sahib’s legacy.

He emphasised that Urdu must reclaim its rightful place in public life, not only in literature and education but also in administration and social communication. “It should be made mandatory that all government as well as private signboards, institutions and public places display names in Urdu,” he said, adding that such steps would be a fitting homage to Khayal Sahib’s lifelong commitment to linguistic and cultural pride.
