Budgam, Oct 6 (KNT): The Principal Sessions Judge of Budgam has sentenced Zahid Ahmad Parra, a resident of Chrar-i-Sharief, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The judgment marks a major success for Budgam Police in its efforts to combat crimes against children.
The conviction relates to FIR No. 55/2023, registered under Sections 363 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following a detailed trial, the court found the accused guilty of abduction and sexual assault.
Officials said Budgam Police conducted a thorough investigation, resulting in a strong prosecution case that led to the conviction. A senior police officer said the verdict demonstrates the department’s determination to protect children and ensure strict punishment for offenders.
