BWJA Mourns Demise of Mother of Senior Journalist and Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom

Baramulla, December 25, 2025:The Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of the respected mother of Senior Journalist and Chairman BWJA, Haji Karamat Qayoom, who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday at around 1:00 AM.

In a condolence message, the BWJA described the deceased as a noble, pious, and compassionate woman who was widely respected for her humility and strong faith. Her passing, the association said, is an irreparable loss not only for the bereaved family but also for all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The BWJA stood in solidarity with Haji Karamat Qayoom and his family during this moment of immense grief and extended heartfelt condolences. The association prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and to bestow patience and strength upon the bereaved family to endure this irretrievable loss.

Journalists and BWJA members participated in the Nimaz-e-Janaza of the departed soul and later visited the ancestral residence of Haji Karamat Qayoom at Qadeem Eidgah, Old Town Baramulla, to offer their condolences.

A BWJA delegation led by its President Gulzar Ahmad paid rich tributes to the deceased. Those who joined in offering condolences included senior journalists Altaf Baba, Sajad Hussain Peer, Anzar Mohjoo, Vice President BWJA Nisar Yatoo, General Secretary Umar Rashid, former journalist Riyaz Ahmad, Fayaz Bukhari, Majeed Sheeri, Manzoor Sheeri, Rizwan Mir, Rizwan Geelani, Suhail Khan, Nisar Malik, Mudasir Malla, Mehraj Lone, Nadeem Dar, Junaid Bhat, Irshad Bhat, Arshid Farooq, Yaqoob Lala, Arawat Mehraj, Nasir Kachroo, and Ashiq Mir.

Later, the BWJA convened a condolence meeting in Baramulla where members prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and reaffirmed their support and solidarity with the bereaved family in this difficult time.
