DIG North Kashmir Calls for Ethical Reporting, Says “Responsible Journalism is Backbone of Democracy

Srinagar, Dec 28 : Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman on Sunday said that truth, ethics and accountability must remain the guiding principles of journalism, particularly in times of widespread misinformation.

In a message shared on social media platform X, DIG Maqsood, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), stressed that journalism today carries a greater responsibility than ever before and must be rooted in rigorous fact-checking and ethical standards.

“Responsible journalism is the cornerstone of democracy. In an era dominated by misinformation, the media must uphold the highest standards of truth, integrity and professional ethics,” the DIG said in his post.

Issued from the Range Police Headquarters in Baramulla, the message reiterated that credible and responsible reporting is essential to safeguard democratic values and maintain public trust, highlighting that truth remains the strongest pillar of a healthy democracy. (KNC)
