Farewell-cum-Felicitation Ceremony Held in Honour of Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Arihal Pulwama

Government Higher Secondary School Arihal Pulwama organised a dignified and graceful Farewell-cum-Felicitation Ceremony in honour of its Principal, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir, who is scheduled to retire from the Department of Education in February 2026. In view of the forthcoming winter vacation, the sacred month of Ramadan, and the anticipated harsh climatic conditions, the institution decided to hold the event well in advance to ensure the participation of all invited dignitaries and stakeholders. The anchoring of the entire programme was conducted by Mr. Anayatullah Najar, Librarian of the institution. At the outset of the programme, Principal Mohammad Ashraf Mir warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Worthy CEO Pulwama, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan, and the Guest of Honour, Worthy DEPO Pulwama, Mr. Gh Nabi Najar, by presenting floral bouquets to them, after which the Principal himself was honoured with a floral bouquet by the Worthy CEO Pulwama.

The ceremony was graced by a distinguished gathering comprising Principals and HOIs of various schools, HOIs of Cluster Schools of Cluster Arihal (both Government and Private), Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Masters, Teachers, senior citizens, faculty members of the institution, and students. The participation of the Principal’s esteemed family members added to the decorum of the event, including his son, Mr. Mir Shakir Hussain, and his spouse, Mtr. Parveen Ji, whose presence was acknowledged with respect.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by Naat-e-Rasool ﷺ Vice Principal, Mr. Arshad Ahmad Sheikh, presented the inaugural address and extended a formal welcome to the gathering. A welcome song by the students of Class 10th added grace to the atmosphere, while due to time constraints, student speeches were omitted. During the course of the programme, an Alvidai Nazm was presented by the anchor in honour of the Principal, adding a heartfelt emotional touch to the ceremony. The gathering was then addressed by several eminent speakers, including *Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan, Worthy CEO Pulwama; Mr. G. N. Najar, Worthy DEPO Pulwama; Mr. Sajad Wali Dar, Principal HSS Litter / ZEO Tahab; *Mr. Mohd Maqbool Subhani, Ex-Principal HSS Litter; Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Lecturer HSS Arihal; Mr. Nazir Ahmad Dar, Sr. Lecturer GHSS Pulwama; Mr. Mohd Ramzan Bhat, Lecturer BHSS Pulwama and Mr. SS Falaknaz, Principal SIS Arihal* who highlighted the remarkable services, leadership qualities, and academic contributions of Principal Mohammad Ashraf Mir.

A traditional Kashmiri shawl was presented to the outgoing Principal as a mark of honour and respect. In addition to the presentation made on behalf of the school staff by Vice Principal, Mr. Arshad Ahmad Sheikh, a collective shawl presentation was also made by the Worthy HOIs of the Cluster Schools of Cluster Arihal, symbolising their collective esteem and appreciation. The most special moment of the ceremony was the address delivered by Principal Mohammad Ashraf Mir, in which he reflected upon his long and fulfilling journey in the field of education, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Department and staff, and offered sincere words of guidance to both teachers and students.

The formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Mr. Ummar Akbar Nengroo, Teacher of the institution, who expressed deep appreciation to all guests, dignitaries, participants, and organisers for their valuable cooperation and support. The ceremony concluded with warmth, grace, and goodwill, marking a memorable tribute to a visionary educator whose dedicated service has significantly enriched the academic and institutional landscape of HSS Arihal Pulwama.
