Kreeri :. The people of Kreeri continue to face severe hardship due to prolonged power cuts during the peak of winter. This persists despite official claims of more than 90 percent underground cabling and a fully metered electricity network. On the ground, residents describe a grim reality that worsens each day.
Long hours without electricity have left families struggling to stay warm. Children, elderly people, and patients with chronic illnesses are the worst affected. Heating systems fail repeatedly, and essential electrical support remains unreliable. In Kashmir’s harsh winter, electricity is not a luxury. It is a basic necessity for survival.
Expressing serious concern, Salman Bukhari said governance cannot be limited to announcements and paperwork. When people are freezing inside their homes, official statistics lose meaning. Governance must be experienced on the ground, not confined to files and press statements.
He questioned how an area presented as a success story of power reforms continues to suffer such neglect. The widening gap between official claims and lived reality has damaged public trust and intensified the daily struggles of ordinary citizens.
Salman Bukhari urged the Power Development Department and Jammu and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited to intervene immediately. He demanded a 24 hour electricity supply or, at the very least, a minimum of 20 hours of uninterrupted power during the winter season.
The suffering of the people cannot be ignored any longer. Immediate action is required to protect lives, dignity, and basic living conditions, he said.
The people of Kreeri now look towards @JKPDD and @JKPDCL for urgent relief and accountability.
