Sopore, July 27 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Justice and Development Front (JDF) held a one-day workers’ meet on Sunday at Dak Bungalow Chijahama, Rafiabad (Baramulla), focusing on preparations for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in the Union Territory.
According to details available with JKNS, the event drew a large turnout, particularly youth from Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla districts in North Kashmir.
The meeting was chaired by JDF Patron Ghulam Qadir Lone and attended by President Shameem Ahmad Bhat, Vice President Ab Rehman Shalla, General Secretary Sayar Ahmad Reshi, and organiser Dr. Talat Majid. Core members Nazir Ahmad, Mohd Shaban, and other party functionaries were also present.
Speakers emphasized the importance of grassroots participation in strengthening democratic institutions and urged youth to play a proactive role in the electoral process.
General Secretary Sayar Ahmad Reshi, who contested the 2024 Assembly elections, said, “Our mission is to eradicate social evils and drug abuse. Youth must make the most of government schemes. The era of failed leadership is over—a new generation is ready to lead.”
He also encouraged unregistered youth to enroll in voter lists to ensure higher democratic participation.
JDF President Shameem Ahmad Bhat added, “Our alliance with Sajad Gani Lone is aimed at strengthening our party base and delivering justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” (JKNS)
