New Delhi, January 2026: The Jammu & Kashmir Junior Boys Floorball Team finished as Runners-Up (2nd Position) at the 19th National Floorball Championship in Delhi. Around 22 state teams from across India participated in the tournament.
Floorball was introduced in Jammu & Kashmir only in the last decade, making the podium finish a notable benchmark for the region’s sporting development at the junior level.
J&K advanced through a demanding draw, defeating NCR Delhi and Bihar in the opening rounds. In the quarterfinals, the team beat Madhya Pradesh 2–0 and later eliminated Haryana in the semifinals to reach the championship match against Tamil Nadu, where they narrowly lost 2–3.
The team was accompanied by General Secretary of the J&K Floorball Association, Fazan Ul Fayaz, Coach Tauseef Ashraf, and Manager Ummer Mohd Dar.
Players expressed they were extremely happy with the result and thanked the J&K Floorball Association for its unwavering support, noting the Association has consistently stood behind the junior program and enabled competitive exposure. Special appreciation was directed toward Founder & General Secretary, Fazan Ul Fayaz, for providing equipment, resources, and logistical assistance under his leadership.
J&K finished ahead of several state units including Bihar, NCR Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, demonstrating a measurable rise in competitive standards.
A major highlight of the championship was Usman Parvaiz, who was named Best Player of the Tournament. Parvaiz, a deaf and mute athlete, delivered decisive performances throughout the event and emerged as one of the tournament’s standout junior players.
Institutional support from the Indian Floorball Federation and the J&K Sports Council — particularly infrastructure access under Ms. Nuzhat Gull — has contributed to broader talent development and expanded participation in the sport within the Union Territory.
