Baramulla 23 Feb : PDP Youth Leader Yasir Naik has strongly condemned the concerned department, district administration, and the government for their complete failure to ensure basic amenities to the residents of Kanispora, who have been suffering from an acute water shortage for the past several days.
In a statement issued to the media, Yasir Naik expressed deep anguish that during the holy month of Ramadhan, when water is essential not only for daily household needs but also for ablution before prayers, the people of Kanispora are left helpless. “It is shameful that in this era of technological advancement and grand development claims, our people are still struggling for basic necessities like water, electricity, and proper roads,” he said.
Due to the prolonged disruption in water supply, many residents have now been forced to call private water tankers to meet their daily needs, putting additional financial burden on already struggling families. Women, children, and the elderly are facing immense hardship as they either wait for tankers or fetch water from distant areas.
Naik termed the situation as sheer administrative negligence and accused the authorities of remaining indifferent despite repeated pleas from locals. He said that Ramadhan is a sacred month of devotion and discipline, and denying people access to water at such a critical time reflects a serious governance failure.
“When the world is moving towards innovation and smart infrastructure, our locality is stuck fighting for survival needs. This is unacceptable,” he added.
Yasir Naik urged the district administration to immediately restore regular water supply to Kanispora and ensure that such crises do not recur. He warned that if the issue is not addressed without further delay, the youth and residents will be compelled to launch a peaceful protest to demand their fundamental rights.
He reaffirmed his commitment to stand with the people of Kanispora and raise their genuine concerns at every appropriate platform until justice is delivered.
