Militants Escaped from Kathua Encounter Site, Leaves Behind Arms & Ammunition

A group of militants engaged by security forces since last evening in Hiranagar Kathua, have managed to flee the encounter site while leaving behind arms, ammunition and other belongings.

An official told news agency Kashmir Bulletin that the militant group was trapped at Sanyal area since last evening. “After an overnight lull, the action against the hiding militants resumed this morning, however after several hours of intermittent gunfire exchange, the militants gave a slip to the security forces,” the official said.”The escaped militant groups, believed to be at least four in number, have left behind a cache of arms, ammunition and other belongings including four M4 magazines, four IED packs, several pairs of shoes, bulletproof jackets, sleeping backs and tracksuits,” the official said.

Pertinent to mention here that a minor girl had last evening sustained injuries in the initial exchange of gunfire at the site. (KB)
