Mirwaiz Raises Alarm Over Safety of Er Rashid and Kashmiri Prisoners in Tihar Jail

Srinagar, Sept 6:  NQ News

On the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq extended greetings to the Muslim Ummah and prayed for compassion, justice, and service to humanity, while expressing deep concern over the safety of incarcerated MP from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid.

Mirwaiz said that distressing reports have emerged about Er Rashid narrowly escaping a fatal attack inside Tihar Jail. He also condemned the alleged deliberate lodging of HIV-positive inmates with Kashmiri prisoners, claiming it was aimed at provoking, assaulting, and humiliating them both physically and mentally.

“The denial of interim bail to veteran leader Shabir Ahmad Shah despite his deteriorating health is also extremely worrying. These incidents once again highlight the dangerous conditions faced by Kashmiri political prisoners in jails and the denial of justice to them,” Mirwaiz stated.

He urged the authorities to at least ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri prisoners, stressing that even if appeals for their release go unheard, their fundamental rights as detainees must be safeguarded.
