Partition, People & Planet: New Research Study by Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather

Baramulla, July 2025:
A new voice in Partition studies has emerged with the release of Partition, People & Planet (A Research Study), the debut book by Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather.

The book is primarily a research study on the Partition of India, examining its devastating social consequences with special focus on the experiences of women. Through rigorous analysis, Dr. Rather explores how Partition disrupted lives, fractured communities, and left behind wounds that continue to echo across South Asia even today.

Alongside its central research theme, the book also presents a selection of creative essays on literature, history, identity, and social justice. These reflective pieces complement the scholarly core of the work, making it accessible not only to academics but also to general readers interested in the deeper human dimensions of history.

In the preface, Dr. Rather explains that writing for him is a way of engaging with “the world’s questions, contradictions, and quiet moments of insight.” He expresses hope that the book will “provoke thought, inspire dialogue, or simply offer a moment of connection.”

With this debut, Dr. Rather has contributed a work that combines scholarly depth with literary sensitivity. Partition, People & Planet is now available and is being regarded as a meaningful addition to contemporary Partition literature.
