PDP Leader Expresses Concern Over Increasing Wild Animal Attacks in Baramulla

Baramulla, Sept 20:

In a tragic incident today, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh of Doodbugh Kandi, Baramulla, was seriously injured in a bear attack in his native village.

Expressing deep concern and disappointment, Senior PDP Leader Mohd Rafique Rather held the Wildlife Department responsible, stating that “it is due to their negligence and failure to act that such incidents are taking place frequently.”

Rafique Rather said that the problem of wild animals straying into villages had repeatedly been brought to the notice of the concerned officials, but no preventive measures were taken. He recalled that a few years ago, the daughter of the same victim, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, lost her life in a wild animal attack.

“The recurring attacks have endangered both human lives and livestock in the area. The Wildlife Department cannot afford to remain casual in dealing with such a serious issue,” Rather said.

He urged Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to hold the Wildlife Department accountable for these tragedies and ensure immediate, effective measures are taken to prevent such incidents in future.

The PDP leader also demanded free medical treatment and adequate compensation for the injured victim.
