Baramulla 29 jan.. // Sahil Hamid Mir of Pattan has etched his name into Jammu and Kashmir sporting history by completing a grueling 311 kilometer marathon run in just 48 hours, a feat achieved through extreme discipline, mental strength, and close supervision from his coach Moin ul Hamid, drawing admiration from officials, sports bodies, and the wider public.
- Sahil Hamid Mir, a National Taekwondo gold medalist and National Karate athlete from Pattan, created history by completing a 311 kilometer marathon run in just 48 hours. The feat established a new record in Jammu and Kashmir and drew wide public attention for its scale and difficulty.
- The demanding journey tested endurance, discipline, and mental strength. Coach Moin ul Hamid remained with Sahil throughout the run and supervised every stage. His planning, training strategy, and constant motivation played a central role in the success.
- The achievement received official recognition at Tehsil Pattan. The SDM, Tehsildar, and other officials honored Sahil for his determination and performance. The initiative also received sponsorship and institutional support from the Tehsildar Pattan, while Moin ul Hamid provided continuous leadership behind the effort.
- The District Administration Baramulla later honored Coach Moin ul Hamid with an award presented by the Deputy Commissioner for his role in shaping young athletes and promoting competitive sports across the district. Sahil Hamid Mir again received appreciation from the Tehsildar and SDM for his record breaking run.
- Moin ul Hamid, who serves as Karate Coach and General Secretary of the Karate Association of District Baramulla, also received recognition on the 77th Republic Day 2026 for his long standing service to youth development and sports excellence. His trainees have secured medals at state and national levels, bringing consistent recognition to Baramulla and reinforcing his commitment to discipline, performance, and nation building through athletics.
