Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNO): National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will not automatically end terrorism and emphasized the need for public support to restore normalcy.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah stated, “Even if statehood is restored, will that end terrorism? Those claiming terrorism has ended should be asked if it still exists.” He highlighted the recent loss of two soldiers in an IED blast, questioning the ongoing threats despite official claims of stability.
He urged people to work collectively for peace, stating, “Our children are unemployed. How can these issues be resolved when there is no peace?”
Abdullah also commented on the Delhi Assembly elections, saying that a pre-poll alliance between AAP and Congress could have altered the results. “The spirit of the INDIA bloc remains the same, but mistakes were made. With better coordination, the outcome could have been different,” he added.
