A Father’s Farewell: Clinging to Faith Amid Unspeakable Loss
As his beloved son Usman fades away, a grieving father finds strength not in blame, but in faith. This poem reflects the deep sorrow of parting, the tenderness of a father’s love, and the final surrender to God’s will.
You always made my heart feel light,
Your morning smile—my daily delight.
But doctors say you’re fading away,
Each word they speak darkens the day.
Each treatment tried, each hopeful sign—
All in vain; my heart won’t align.
Your limbs grow weak, your voice is gone,
This grief and pain go on and on.
Yet still, there’s no one I can blame;
Only Yaseen gives me strength to name.
The sorrow etched upon your face—
I tried so much, but can’t erase.
I don’t know how to fill your space,
Your mom and dad miss your warm embrace.
We hold your hands, we kiss your brow,
And feel you’re not the same somehow.
The light once bright begins to fade,
As though your soul prepares its shade.
Now our only hope is Allah above,
Whose mercy wraps us in endless love.
With tearful eyes and aching tone,
I whisper, “To Him we all belong.”
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
My Usman, My Gull
