Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-E-Sharie Shian President Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi has reiterated that Waqaf Amendment bill in its current form, the amendment removes the spirit of the Muslim endowment/ wukuf/ awqaf concept. It is a clear and motivated encroachment into religious practice and an assault on the religious institution, which has existed for about 14 centuries.
It is pertinent to mention that Aga Syed Hassan along MMU Members had contested before JPC how Waqf amendments threaten the autonomy of Muslim endowments, allowing government interference in their management, violating Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
