Srinagar 4 Nov : Social and political activist Waqar H. Bhatti announced his resignation from the Apni Party, citing personal reasons. Addressing the media after his recent release from Kathua Jail, where he had been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA), Bhatti expressed deep respect for the party leadership and extended his best wishes to the Party President.
Bhatti said he joined the Apni Party about a year ago but decided to step down due to personal circumstances. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving society as an independent social and political activist.
He emphasized the importance of youth participation in mainstream politics, saying it is the most effective path to social progress and better governance. “The youth should not distance themselves from mainstream politics,” he stated. “Active participation can lead to a brighter and more accountable future.”
Bhatti appealed to the Central Government to review the cases of young individuals detained under the PSA. “Many of them want to live peaceful lives. Their families are suffering. They should be given a chance,” he said.
He also urged the youth to avoid actions or statements that could disrupt communal harmony or invite legal consequences. “We must be part of the solution, not contributors to the problem,” he added.
Bhatti criticized political leaders for exploiting the issue of detainees for personal or party gains. “No political party has genuinely supported these young people in jail,” he said. “I request the government to show compassion and give them an opportunity to rebuild their lives. Their families will remain forever grateful.”
