Yasir Naik has strongly raised concern over the alarming imbalance in the student-teacher ratio in various government schools of Baramulla, terming it a classic example of administrative mismanagement and misuse of public resources. He said it is deeply unfortunate that many government schools with extremely low enrollment continue functioning independently despite having excess teaching staff, while several other schools are suffering due to severe teacher shortages where a single teacher is forced to handle 30 to 40 students.Yasir Naik stated that through RTI documents, serious irregularities in teacher deployment and school functioning have already come to light. Several schools are heavily overstaffed despite negligible student strength, while deserving institutions remain understaffed and neglected. He further said that many teachers have remained posted in the same schools for decades without transfers, while others remain attached to BLO duties or adjusted in ZEO and CEO offices instead of classrooms, badly affecting the education system at the grassroots level.Citing a live example, Yasir Naik said that the Government Primary School located on Kanli Bagh Baba Reshi Road near Lal Bab Ziyarat Sharief can easily be merged with Govt. Dewanbagh School in the larger public interest. He added that the existing building can then be converted into a dispensary or basic healthcare centre so that local residents are not forced to travel to GMC Baramulla even for minor treatment or injections. He emphasized that public infrastructure must be utilized according to public needs and ground realities instead of being allowed to remain underutilized due to bureaucratic inertia.Yasir Naik further demanded:• Immediate district-wide audit of student-teacher ratio in all government schools.• Rationalization and transparent redistribution of teaching staff.• Time-bound transfer policy for teachers posted at one place for decades.• Removal of unnecessary attachments from ZEO/CEO offices to classrooms.• Merging of low-enrollment schools where feasible.• Utilization of vacant school buildings for dispensaries, skill centres, libraries, or other public welfare institutions.• Introduction of transparency and accountability in teacher attendance and deployment. He said the government must understand that education reforms cannot succeed merely through announcements and new recruitments while the existing system continues to suffer from poor planning and administrative imbalance.”Public money must benefit the public, not sustain a failed and unplanned system,” Yasir Naik added.

Press Release Baramulla : 18 May :.
