{"id":6681,"date":"2026-08-05T06:20:54","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T06:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/noukeqalamnews.com\/en\/?p=6681"},"modified":"2026-08-05T06:21:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T06:21:03","slug":"pdp-baramulla-strongly-condemns-house-arrest-and-detention-of-party-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noukeqalamnews.com\/en\/pdp-baramulla-strongly-condemns-house-arrest-and-detention-of-party-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Baramulla Strongly Condemns House Arrest and Detention of Party Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Baramulla, August 5: The Jammu &amp; Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Baramulla, has strongly condemned the house arrest and detention of its senior leaders ahead of the party&#8217;s proposed peaceful protest against the abrogation of Article 370.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement, the Party Spokesperson said that holding peaceful protests is a fundamental democratic right guaranteed under the Constitution of India. Preventing political leaders and workers from exercising this right is undemocratic and amounts to the suppression of democratic freedoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Spokesperson said that 5th August is observed by the people of Jammu &amp; Kashmir as a Black Day, as it marks the day when the region&#8217;s special constitutional status and identity were taken away through what the party describes as an illegal and unjustified decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that, in accordance with the directions of Party President Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, peaceful protest demonstrations were scheduled to be held at all district headquarters across Jammu &amp; Kashmir. However, the administration thwarted the programme by placing almost the entire district leadership under house arrest or detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PDP Baramulla Spokesperson termed the action arbitrary, unjustified and a direct assault on democratic values. He said that such measures cannot silence the voice of the people or suppress their peaceful and democratic expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaders placed under house arrest or detention include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mohd Rafique Rather, District President, PDP Baramulla<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peer Jalal-ud-Din, Former District President<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Shoib Nabi Lone, Former MLA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Malik Altaf Distt coordinator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mir Intikhab, District Organiser<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Er.
