Kishtwar, May 13: In a significant breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully cracked a long standing Jaish-e-Mohammed overground worker (OGW) network linked to the Chatroo Kishtwar encounter.
Police have arrested suspect Mashkoor Ahmed of Beigpora Singhpora, Chatroo, under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act.
The case is connected to the February 4, 2026 encounter at Dichhar Chatroo, in which a terrorist identified as Adil was killed during an anti-terror operation.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly provided shelter, food, and logistical support to Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists operating in the Chatroo area.

Police sources said that a photograph of slain Jaish commander Saifullah alias Swaruddin, garlanded with currency notes, was reportedly taken inside the accused’s residence.
Saifullah alias Swaruddin was later killed along with two foreign terrorists during “Operation Trashi I” in Chatroo on February 22, 2026.
Sources further stated that the accused was appointed as a Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher in 2004 and was regularised in 2009 at Primary School Gujrari, Zone Chatroo.

Kishtwar Police says in its statement that “Kishtwar Police arrested Mashkoor Ahmed (Beighpora, Singhpora) and Maneer Ahmed (Bandeyan Naidgam) for aiding foreign terrorists by facilitating a hideout in Chatroo. FIR No. 03/2026 registered at PS Chatroo under BNS, UAPA & Arms Act. SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS stated that the operation has dealt a significant blow to terror logistics in the region.Investigation is ongoing to dismantle the entire network and bring all involved to justice.”
Further investigation in the case is underway.
