Kulgam 01 June :. The fight against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir has entered a decisive phase with the launch of the 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan under the leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. Launched on 11 April 2026, the campaign aims to build a drug free society and safeguard the future of the region’s youth.
Within just 51 days of its commencement, the campaign has delivered significant results. More than 930 FIRs have been registered and over 1,000 drug peddlers arrested across Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the administration’s firm commitment to eliminating the drug menace.
The campaign has witnessed active participation from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, district administrations, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and volunteers. Through awareness programmes, rallies, padyatras, sports activities, seminars, and community outreach initiatives, thousands of young people have been educated about the dangers of substance abuse and encouraged to adopt healthy and productive lifestyles.
A major strength of the campaign is its balanced approach, combining strict enforcement with rehabilitation and recovery. While drug traffickers and peddlers are being dealt with firmly under the law, individuals struggling with addiction are being provided counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation support to help them reintegrate into society.
The intensified crackdown has created a strong deterrent against drug related crimes. Measures such as arrests, property attachment, and legal action have sent a clear message that the administration will not tolerate narcotics trafficking. Across many areas of Kashmir, residents are witnessing a visible decline in the open sale and circulation of drugs, offering renewed hope to affected families and communities.
One of the most notable aspects of the campaign has been the personal involvement of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor. By visiting districts across Jammu and Kashmir and participating in awareness programmes and padyatras alongside students, youth, parents, and citizens, he has transformed the initiative into a genuine people’s movement.
The public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Thousands of citizens, particularly young people, have joined anti drug rallies and awareness events, demonstrating widespread support for the vision of a drug free Jammu and Kashmir.
The Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan is more than a government initiative. It is a collective mission to protect families, empower youth, and secure the future of coming generations. The campaign embodies the spirit of a progressive, responsible, and healthy society.
As the movement continues, the participation of every citizen remains essential. Through collective determination and sustained public support, Jammu and Kashmir can achieve the shared goal of a safer, healthier, and drug free future.
A drug free Jammu and Kashmir is not merely an aspiration. It is a shared responsibility and a commitment to future generations.
