“Aga Syed Muntazir Rejects NC Allegations: ‘How Can I Join the Party Involved in My Uncle’s Assassination?’”
Budgam, June 27:
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and 27-Budgam constituency in-charge, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, on Friday firmly ruled out any possibility of joining the National Conference (NC) and dismissed as baseless a media report suggesting otherwise.
“This news, being circulated by certain so-called journalists, is nothing but a blatant lie—driven by malicious intent to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and especially the people of Budgam,” Aga Syed Muntazir said.
In a statement, he clarified that his decision to join the PDP was made with the intent to serve the people during these challenging times—not to seek power.
“How can I join the NC, a party that has ridiculed the people of Jammu and Kashmir since day one—and the people of Budgam in particular? The same party had a central role in the assassination of my uncle. Do they really think I would betray my blood like that?” he asked.
He further warned of legal action:
“If this fabricated story is not retracted immediately, along with a public apology, we reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for tarnishing our image and misleading the public. Let this serve as a warning: such dishonest journalism will not be tolerated.”
