Blending Creativity with Technical Precision
Srinagar, Jan 29: Asrar Sultanpuri, a native of Baramulla and founder of Sangarmaal Productions, has carved a niche for himself in India’s media and documentary landscape. Combining his poetic sensibilities with deep technical understanding, he has become a leading chronicler of the nation’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Since establishing Sangarmaal Productions in 1995, Sultanpuri has played a pivotal role in reshaping how India’s infrastructural milestones are documented, influencing public perception and national records alike.
His latest endeavor, a documentary on the Chenab Railway Bridge, exemplifies his commitment to showcasing India’s engineering marvels. “The Chenab Railway Arch Bridge is more than a feat of engineering—it symbolizes resilience, innovation, and human determination,” Sultanpuri stated. The bridge, spanning 1,708 meters across the Chenab River, stands at an awe-inspiring 359 meters above the riverbed, making it the world’s highest railway bridge. It is a critical component of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, designed to bolster connectivity between Jammu & Kashmir and the rest of India.
Engineering Excellence: The Chenab Bridge Documentary
The construction of this monumental bridge began in 2010, involving extensive surveying and groundwork. A landmark moment was achieved on January 8, 2025, when the final trial run was conducted, demonstrating India’s engineering expertise. Reflecting on the event, Sultanpuri remarked, “Witnessing the trial run was a moment of immense pride, a testament to years of perseverance and collaboration.”
Sultanpuri’s documentary captures the challenges and breakthroughs encountered during the bridge’s construction. Scripted, produced, and directed by him, the 45-minute film provides a detailed exploration of this engineering marvel, highlighting the people behind its realization and the historical significance of the USBRL project. Titled “The Chenab Railway Bridge: An Engineering Marvel of the Century,” the documentary was commissioned by AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd. and Konkan Railway Construction Corporation, under the supervision of Northern Railway. The film is set for national and international screenings, with potential broadcasts on the Discovery Channel.
Beyond Infrastructure: Documenting Heritage and Culture
Sultanpuri’s expertise extends beyond infrastructure, encompassing cultural and historical explorations. His acclaimed works include:

The company has recently embarked on an international venture with the launch of Rove Logue, a media channel based in Antalya, Turkey, dedicated to exploring historical and archaeological sites worldwide.
“This is just the beginning,” Sultanpuri asserted. “Our goal is to bring India’s cultural and historical narratives to the global stage.”
Strategic Collaborations and Future Aspirations
Sultanpuri’s growing influence has led to strategic partnerships with Prasar Bharati, Union Ministries, and leading infrastructure firms. His extensive documentation of railway projects in Kashmir and other landmark developments is available on YouTube, serving as an invaluable resource for scholars, engineers, and history enthusiasts alike.
As he continues his journey, Sultanpuri remains dedicated to chronicling India’s transformation, ensuring that the stories of its remarkable progress are preserved for generations to come.
