Kathua Gunfight: 2 Militants, 3 Cops Killed, Operation On

Srinagar, Mar 27 (KB): Three police personnel and two militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter, which broke on Thursday afternoon, in Kathua, an official said.

The official told news agency Kashmir Bulletin that during the ongoing exchange of gunfire at Juthana encounter site, three police personnel suffered grievous injuries and eventually succumbed later on. “Several other personnel injured during the gunfire exchange, are undergoing treatment,” the official said. “Two militants have also been killed in the gunfight thus far,” the official said, adding, “More security reinforcement is being build to neutralise the trapped militants at the encounter site.”

“The ongoing operation is being closely monitored by IG Jammu, even as DGP Nalin Prabhat also overseeing the operation at a nearby base,” the official said.
