BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Altaf Thakur has strongly condemned the circulation of a doctored video, alleging that it has been deliberately morphed and edited into misleading fragments by political opponents and vested interests, with the sole intent of tarnishing his public image.
In a statement issued to the media, Thakur urged journalists and media professionals to verify the authenticity of the full video byte before arriving at any conclusions. “I appeal to the media to watch the complete video and understand the context, instead of relying on selective and edited clips being used to mislead the public,” he said.
Thakur confirmed that he has already taken up the matter with the Cyber Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, seeking a thorough investigation into the origin and dissemination of the doctored content. “This is a clear attempt at character assassination and digital misinformation. I have full faith in the police and believe that those behind this mischief will be identified and brought to justice,” he added.
He further warned that such unethical tactics not only harm individual reputations but also erode the credibility of democratic discourse. Thakur reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir and stated that no amount of slander would deter him from his responsibilities.
