Policeman Dies After Accidental Firing from Service Rifle in Bandipora

Bandipora, Oct 17 : A 32-year-old police constable from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district tragically lost his life on Friday after his service rifle went off accidentally inside the Police Lines Bandipora.

Officials told that the deceased has been identified as Arfeen Lone, son of Darwesh Lone, a resident of Malangam Tulail in Bandipora district.

“The incident occurred when the service rifle of the on-duty policeman accidentally discharged, causing him severe injuries,” an official said. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. — (KNC)
