Ganderbal Girl Rescued from Married Man in Himachal, Accused Arrested

Ganderbal, Nov 6: In a swift interstate operation, police in Ganderbal rescued a young girl abducted by a married man with two children, arresting him from Himachal Pradesh.

Acting on specific inputs and under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, a special police team from Police Post Shadipora tracked down and apprehended the accused, identified as Firdous Rustum Khan, son of Rustum Ali Khan, resident of Shatigam, Handwara.

Police said Khan had been using social media to lure women. The abducted girl was recovered safely and reunited with her family after medico-legal formalities.

A case under FIR No. 185/2025 has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal. Investigation is in progress.

Police said the prompt action reflects their commitment to protecting women and curbing online exploitation. They advised youth to stay cautious while engaging with strangers on digital platforms.
