PDP Youth Leader Yasir Naik Reviews GMC Baramulla Facilities and Flags Key Public Issues

Baramulla 28 Nov….. ///

Youth Leader PDP Yasir Naik conducted a visit to GMC Baramulla to review facilities and address public grievances. The visit began at the Emergency Block, where he inspected the toilets and found that several cubicles had no functioning locks and no mugs available for patients. The issue was immediately taken up with the GMC administration. Officials assured Mr. Yasir Naik that the matter would be resolved by the next day and that patients would not face further complaints regarding basic toilet facilities.

During the meeting, several serious concerns were raised:

  1. Limited availability of eco tests
Mr. Yasir Naik highlighted that eco tests are conducted only twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, forcing many patients to wait long periods. He questioned the administration on why staff shortages have been allowed to continue and asked, if there are not enough technicians, why hasn’t the administration recruited more staff? He urged them to increase testing days so patients don’t suffer unnecessary delays.
  2. Sanitation services tender
He raised concerns about the sanitation contract being repeatedly awarded to the same company, Renovo Solutions, despite complaints about poor service quality. Mr. Yasir Naik asked what actions or penalties were imposed under the tender conditions set by GMC. He demanded cancellation of the contract and blacklisting of the firm for failing to meet service standards and for not having a district office, which is a mandatory requirement.
  3. Parking tender irregularities
He also highlighted irregularities in the parking contract, which continues to go to the same firm or individual without transparency. Mr. Yasir Naik pointed out that key data is missing from the JK Tenders portal and noted that the contractor operates under a court stay order. He asked the administration what legal steps have been taken, including which lawyer represents GMC and the current status of the case. He further raised concern over a contradiction: GMC’s tender notice requires the contractor to compensate the public for vehicle theft or damage, yet the parking slip states that the contractor bears no responsibility. He questioned why no action has been taken and demanded cancellation of the tender and blacklisting of the firm.
  4. NTPHC on Old Hospital Road
Mr. Naik highlighted that the NTPHC building, completed three years ago, is still not functional. He asked for reasons behind the delay and urged the administration to make the facility operational immediately for the residents of Baramulla town.
  5. High patient load on a single doctor
He also raised the issue of one doctor attending nearly 175 patients daily at the Old Hospital building. Mr. Yasir Naik said this situation is unfair to both the doctor and the patients, and poses risks to the quality of care. He demanded that more staff be assigned so that patients receive timely treatment and doctors can work under manageable conditions.

Mr. Yasir Naik said these concerns reflect the everyday challenges faced by the public and stressed that timely action will improve patient care and restore trust in the institution. The GMC administration assured him that all the issues raised will be addressed and resolved promptly.
