The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has firmly dismissed claims linking egg consumption to cancer, calling them misleading and scientifically unsupported. The regulator clarified that eggs sold in India are safe for human consumption and that allegations about carcinogenic substances lack any scientific basis.
FSSAI said nitrofurans are strictly prohibited in poultry and egg production, and trace detections below prescribed limits do not pose any health risk. No national or international health authority has linked normal egg consumption to cancer, it added, urging people to rely on verified information and official advisories.
