Srinagar: President, Kashmir Bar Association, Advocate Haamid Bhat, has strongly asserted that the people of Jammu & Kashmir will not allow anyone to pursue or impose a divisive “divide and rule” policy in the Union Territory.
In a clear and unequivocal statement, Advocate Haamid Bhat said that J&K has a long tradition of unity, brotherhood, and communal harmony, and any attempt to fracture society for political or personal gain will be resisted collectively and constitutionally.
He emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir remains a secular Union Territory, deeply rooted in the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi truth, non-violence, mutual respect, and coexistence. “The strength of J&K lies in its diversity and unity. We firmly stand with Gandhian principles that promote peace, justice, and inclusive harmony,” he said.
Advocate Haamid Bhat further warned that polarization, hatred, and communal politics have no place in a democratic society, and called upon all stakeholders to work responsibly for peace, rule of law, and social cohesion.
He reaffirmed that the Kashmir Bar Association will continue to uphold constitutional values, safeguard secularism, and stand with the people in defending unity, justice, and democratic principles in Jammu & Kashmir.
