The Zonal Education Office Chandoosa organized a one day Training Programme cum Cooking Competition under the PM POSHAN Scheme in District Baramulla. The programme took place at Government Middle School Chandoosa as per directions of higher authorities.
Zonal Education Officer Chandoosa, Smt. Harmeet Kour Ji, chaired the programme. Eighty Cook cum Helpers from different schools of the zone participated actively.
The event was coordinated by Zonal Nodal Officer PM POSHAN, Mr. Irshad Ahmad Dar, Senior Assistant, with support from trained Master Trainers, Heads of Institutions, and experienced Cook cum Helpers associated with the scheme for several years.
The training focused on food safety, hygiene, nutritional standards, safe cooking practices, and proper implementation of PM POSHAN guidelines. The objective was to ensure timely delivery of safe and nutritious meals to school children.
While addressing the participants, Smt. Harmeet Kour Ji, along with ZCC Chandoosa Mr. Showkat Nazir Parray, ZNO IE Mr. Bilal Ahmad, HOI Mr. Javid Ahmad Hakeem, and Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Beigh, stressed the moral, ethical, social, and professional responsibilities of Cook cum Helpers. They highlighted their key role in supporting student health, attendance, and learning outcomes, especially in rural schools.
Mr. Irshad Ahmad Dar and other resource persons emphasized strict adherence to PM POSHAN norms and best cooking practices for effective implementation of the scheme.
After the training session, a Cooking Competition was held. Participants prepared meals as per prescribed guidelines to demonstrate their skills.
A Zonal Level Committee comprising Mr. Showkat Nazir, Mr. Bilal Ahmad, Mr. Javid Ahmad, and Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Beigh evaluated the entries. Assessment criteria included hygiene, taste, nutritional value, presentation, and compliance with PM POSHAN standards.
The first, second, and third group winners received cash prizes and mementos.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the Education Department’s commitment to capacity building, motivation, and recognition of Cook cum Helpers, ensuring nutritious, safe, and hygienic meals for school children across Zone Chandoosa.
