Pulwama: Social activist Jasib Shabir has expressed serious concern over the continued neglect of Drussu village in Pulwama, alleging that the area has been completely ignored despite being part of the Rajpora constituency.
In a strong statement issued on his social media handles, Jasib Shabir said that repeated appeals by villagers have received no response, no visits, and no developmental attention from the area’s elected MLA, Janab Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir Sahab.
“The youth of Drussu are frustrated and disillusioned. There is a widespread feeling that the village is remembered only during elections and forgotten afterward. This raises serious questions about democratic representation and accountability,” he said.
He termed the prolonged absence of the elected representative as “deeply disappointing and unacceptable,” adding that an MLA who disengages after elections betrays the trust of the people who voted for him.
Jasib Shabir has urged the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Janab Omar Abdullah Sahab, to personally intervene in the matter and seek an explanation for the neglect of Drussu village.
“The people are not asking for favors; they are asking for their basic democratic right to representation and development. Respect is earned through action, not election-time speeches,” he stated.
He concluded by demanding immediate accountability, meaningful engagement with the people of Drussu, and visible developmental action on the ground.
