Baramulla 11 jan.. /// District Baramulla has emerged as a symbol of pride for Jammu & Kashmir as its women cyclists delivered noteworthy performances at the Khelo India Asmita Women’s League, held at Kurukshetra, Haryana, from 10th to 11th January 2026.
In a historic first, the event marked the maiden participation of the Jammu & Kashmir Women’s Cycling Team in the prestigious Khelo India Asmita League. Significantly, all participating riders hailed from District Baramulla, underlining the district’s growing contribution to women’s sports at the national level.
Ulfat Mushtaq demonstrated exceptional determination by securing 10th position in the 30 km Time Trial. Displaying remarkable resilience and sportsmanship, she went on to finish 11th in the 60 km Mass Start, despite suffering a crash during the race. Her performance stood out as a true example of courage and perseverance.
Mehak Mushtaq delivered a consistent and commendable showing, finishing 12th in the 30 km Time Trial and 13th in the 60 km Mass Start, reflecting her discipline and competitive spirit.
Adding further strength to the team’s achievement, Hoor-i-ein Lone secured 16th position, contributing to the overall success of the Baramulla contingent.
This landmark participation and performance signify a major step forward for women’s cycling in Jammu & Kashmir.
