Srinagar, Jan 31: Chief Patron of the Jammu and Kashmir Justice Development Front, Ghulam Qadir Lone, on Saturday said the party will participate in the upcoming Panchayat elections, though its reach may be limited at this stage.
He said the party would contest elections in areas where it is able to reach people and organize effectively.
Lone said the relationship between Jammu and Kashmir is centuries old and dates back to the formation of the erstwhile state. He said there is no need to divide the two regions, adding that separation will not bring any benefit.
Lone said demanding equal development is legitimate. He added that people in Kashmir can also raise concerns if they feel resources are being allocated unfairly elsewhere. Such demands are democratic in nature and should be addressed through governance rather than division.
He said besides Jammu or Kathua alone. There are other areas like Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, and Poonch and are diverse in character. Dividing such a large and diverse region would not help, he said, adding it would only deepen existing problems.
Lone said the real solution lies in ensuring fair development, equal opportunities, and justice for all regions of Jammu and Kashmir,
