Srinagar 24/June : The students of LLB and BA LLB programmes of the University of Kashmir have expressed deep concern and dissatisfaction regarding the recent reallocation of examination centres for the upcoming examinations, stating that the decision has caused serious inconvenience to a large number of candidates.
Students stated that examination centres which were earlier available within their respective regions have been changed without adequately considering accessibility, travel hardships, and the practical difficulties students may face in reaching distant centres.
The issue becomes more concerning in light of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra period during which prolonged traffic restrictions and highway delays are frequently witnessed, creating a genuine apprehension among students that they may miss examinations or face severe difficulty in reaching their allotted centres on time.
Students informed that repeated representations were made before the concerned university authorities including Head of Law department, the Controller, and the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor requesting restoration of regional centre options or allowing students to opt for centre change. However, no meaningful relief has been granted so far.
The students further stated that despite intervention and efforts by several public representatives and political leaders including Advocate Riyaz Ahmad Khan, A.B. Majeed Larmi, Altaf Kaloo, Waheed Para, Mohd Yousuf Tarigami, and Bashir Ahmad Veeri, no significant action has yet been taken by the University to address the concerns raised by the student community.
Having exhausted multiple avenues, the affected students have now formally appealed to the Hon’ble Minister for Education, Ms. Sakeena Itoo, seeking urgent intervention and requesting directions to the University authorities to reconsider the decision and restore regional
