Baramulla Police Register Cyber Fraud Case Against Two Persons Over Alleged Use of Mule Bank Accounts

Baramulla, October 29, 2026, Baramulla Police have registered a cyber fraud case against two persons for their alleged involvement in using mule bank accounts to receive, hold and transfer illicit funds.

The case has been registered at Cyber Police Station Baramulla under FIR No. 05/2026, invoking Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Act.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Mohsin Ashraf Ganie of Gulshanabad, Baramulla, and Sahil Irshad of Khanpora, Baramulla, presently residing at Chakloo.

The case was registered following information alleging that mule bank accounts were being used to facilitate the movement of illicit funds within and outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Such accounts can be misused to conceal the origin ment of suspicious financial transactions, making it difficult for authorities to detect and prevent cyber-enabled financial offences.

Police said the investigation is underway to determine the extent of the alleged transactions, establish the individual roles of those involved and identify any other persons or networks potentially connected with the case.

Baramulla Police reiterated their commitment to taking firm legal action against cybercrime and financial fraud. The public has been advised not to share bank accounts, ATM cards, banking credentials or account access with unknown persons in exchange for commissions, as such arrangements may expose account holders to legal consequences.
