Call for Advocates Protection Law in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar 10 April… /// Advocate Haamid Bhat a Prominent Voice of Legal Fraternity and social Activist has urged the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to introduce and pass a comprehensive Advocates Protection Bill to ensure the safety, dignity and independence of legal professionals.

He emphasized that advocates play a crucial role in upholding justice and the rule of law and any threat or violence against them undermines the entire justice delivery system. The proposed legislation should include strict provisions against assaults, intimidation and obstruction of advocates while discharging their professional duties.

He further expressed concern that pro-India lawyers are facing tremendous challenges within court premises from anti-national elements and organizations, which is creating an atmosphere of fear and hindrance in the fair administration of justice.

He stated that safeguarding advocates is not merely about protecting individuals, but about strengthening the foundation of justice and ensuring that courts remain spaces of fairness, security and constitutional integrity.
