Srinagar: Former IAS officer and ex-Advisor to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, has claimed that he was denied his rightful appointment as the Chief Secretary despite being the senior-most IAS officer in the J&K Secretariat at the time.
Speaking during “Kashmir Podcast with Ahmed Ali Fayyaz”, Ganai said that following the resignation of Iqbal Khandey, he was next in line for the top bureaucratic post based on seniority.
“I was the senior-most IAS officer in the J&K Secretariat. After Iqbal Khandey’s resignation, it was my right to become Chief Secretary. But I was deprived of my right, and Chief Minister Mufti Sahab did not redress my grievance,” Ganai said.
Ganai, who has also served as Advisor to the Governor and Chief Information Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, made the remarks while reflecting on his administrative career and the circumstances surrounding the appointment of the Chief Secretary.
His comments have drawn attention as they revisit a significant episode in Jammu and Kashmir’s administrative history.
