PDP’s Protests a ‘Political Show and Facade’ to Gain Sympathy Amid Iltija Mufti FIR Controversy: Imran shah

Anantnag, August 10: National Conference (NC) senior leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, today visited Kadipora, Anantnag, to review the progress of ongoing development works and assess the status of various projects in the area.

Reacting to the ongoing political controversy surrounding the FIR registered against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti, Shah launched a sharp political attack on the PDP, describing its recent protests and public campaign as a “political show and facade” aimed at generating political noise and seeking public sympathy.

Imran Shah questioned the rationale behind the PDP’s response to the police action, asserting that allegations of physical aggression, if established through due legal proceedings, must be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. He stressed that political parties and public representatives must respect the legal process rather than attempting to turn every police or judicial proceeding into a political confrontation.

“The PDP’s protests appear to be driven more by political optics than by genuine public interest. Serious public issues demand responsible political engagement, not manufactured controversies and street-level theatrics. If allegations have been made, the law must take its course, and every political party must respect due process,” Shah said.

He further alleged that the PDP was attempting to capitalise on the controversy for political mileage and portray itself as a victim instead of focusing on the substantive issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Imran Shah said that political discourse in Jammu and Kashmir must remain centred on governance, development, public welfare and accountability, rather than being reduced to confrontation, political theatrics and publicity-driven campaigns.

He maintained that the people of Anantnag expect political leadership to remain focused on development, resolution of public grievances and strengthening democratic institutions. “The people are looking for results, not political spectacles. Our priority must be governance, development and addressing the genuine concerns of the people,” he added.
