Prof. Aijaz Ashraf takes over as Incharge Director of UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Kashmir Studies at KU

SRINAGAR: Professor Aijaz Ashraf Wani, a distinguished academic and expert in governance and public policy, has taken over as the Incharge Director of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Kashmir Studies (UMSIKS), University of Kashmir.

Prof. Wani is an accomplished scholar with an impressive academic background. He holds an M.A. (Gold Medal), M.Phil., and Ph.D. and brings with him 19 years of postgraduate teaching experience. Over the years, he has earned recognition for his contributions to teaching, research, and academic leadership.

His areas of expertise include governance, public policy, and South Asian studies, and he has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences in India and abroad, presenting research on contemporary policy and governance issues.

Prof. Wani is also the recipient of a prestigious United States Government-funded fellowship, reflecting international recognition of his academic excellence and research capabilities.

An accomplished author, he has published several scholarly books and research works with internationally renowned publishing houses, including SAGE Publications and Routledge, making significant contributions to the fields of governance, public administration, and South Asian studies.

His appointment as the Incharge Director of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Kashmir Studies is expected to further strengthen the institute’s academic and research initiatives. Colleagues and academicians have expressed confidence that under his leadership, the institute will continue to advance interdisciplinary research, promote scholarly engagement, and enhance its national and international academic collaborations.
