Former Bar President Mian Abdul Qayoom, Vice President Aijaz Bedar Among Five Charge-Sheeted by Srinagar Police.

Srinagar, July 24 (CNS): Sixteen years after the registration of an FIR, Srinagar Police on Friday filed a charge sheet before the designated NIA Court, Srinagar, against former Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association President Mian Abdul Qayoom, former Vice President Advocate Aijaz Bedar, Advocate G.N. Shaheen & deceased Advocate Bilal Ahmad Bhat in connection with a case registered at Police Station Maisuma on March 29, 2010.

Sources told CNS that the charge sheet was submitted by Police Station Maisuma before the designated NIA Court for judicial consideration under 13 UAPA and 188RPC.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly raised pro-Azadi slogans, shouted anti-national slogans, violated restrictions imposed by the District Magistrate during an incident at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, delivered provocative speeches, and raised slogans directed against the sovereignty and integrity of India.

With the filing of the charge sheet after nearly 16 years, the matter has now formally entered the trial stage. The designated NIA Court has listed the case for August 12, 2026, for further proceedings.(CNS)
