PDP condemns power disconnection to 90 households in Nilsar Kandi, Demands immediate restoration.

Baramulla: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the disconnection of electricity supply to nearly 90 households in Nilsar, Baramulla, reportedly leaving residents without power for past many days.
PDP District President Baramulla Mohd Rafique Rather said it is deeply unfortunate that poor and deserving families are being made to suffer instead of being provided relief and a humane solution to their electricity dues. “Cutting off the electricity of an entire locality comprising around 90 households is not a solution. These are ordinary families who need support and consideration, not punitive action,” he said.

Rafiqur Rather said the National Conference government has miserably failed to protect the interests of the poor and deserving people, despite making tall promises before the 2024 elections. “The NC sought votes by promising 200 units of free electricity, presenting it as a major relief measure for households. Today, people in Nilsar are struggling even to keep their basic electricity connection alive. This starkly exposes the gap between election promises and governance,” he said.

The PDP leader demanded that the administration immediately restore the electricity supply to all affected households, examine their bills sympathetically and work out a reasonable relief mechanism for genuinely poor and deserving families.
“People should not be forced to choose between paying unaffordable bills and living without electricity. The government must act with sensitivity and responsibility,” Rather said.
He assured the affected residents of Nilsar that PDP will take up the matter at the highest appropriate level and will pursue it until a fair and humane resolution PDP stands with the people of Nilsar. We will not allow the genuine grievances of poor families to be ignored,” he added.
